St Elizabeth’s near Much Hadham, Hertfordshire, provides care for over 200 individuals with learning disabilities and other complex medical needs, often caused or complicated by severe epilepsy and/or autism. St Elizabeth’s recently took the decision to close down its Adult care centre at the end of November 2022, and focus on operating as a residential school and college, supporting children and young people with epilepsy and other complex conditions, where there is an increasing need for specialist care.
Based in a rural location, five miles from Bishop’s Stortford and nine miles from Harlow, recruiting and retaining staff who didn’t drive has always been challenge, so the Centre set up a subsidised bus service to allow staff based in Bishop’s Stortford, Harlow, Sawbridgeworth and Hunsdon to get to work. The shuttle timetable ensures care teams on both early and late shifts arrive safely, on time and ready to care for the residents.
The management team at St Elizabeth’s found running the shuttle service using a paper-based process was very time consuming, especially when administering staff payments. As a result, they turned to Kura, a corporate transport software specialist.
